Chapong vs Vercel

Vercel is a well-known managed platform for frontend and Next.js apps. Chapong gives you a similar git-push workflow, but your sites run on servers you own, with a Supabase-compatible backend built in.

Where they differ

General differences in approach. Vercel changes its products and plans over time, so check its own documentation for current details.

Global edge networkNot the focus: your site is served from your serverA core part of the platform

Vercel may suit you better if…

  • You want a fully managed global edge network and don’t need to think about servers
  • You rely on platform-specific features of Vercel’s runtime
  • Usage-based scaling across regions matters more than where your data lives

Chapong may suit you better if…

  • You want your code, logs and data on a server you control
  • You prefer a flat server price you can predict
  • You want a Postgres, auth and storage backend next to your site without another vendor
  • You host your own Git with Gitea

Moving a project over

  1. Create a site from the same repository; Chapong detects Vite, Next.js, Nuxt, Astro and other frameworks.
  2. Copy your environment variables into the site’s production, preview or shared scopes.
  3. Deploy a preview and test it: Next.js runs as a regular Node server (next start), so features specific to another host’s runtime may behave differently.
  4. Add your domain, update the DNS record to the target Chapong shows, and HTTPS is issued automatically.
  5. Prefer the terminal? avoca deploy skips a local .vercel/ folder when it uploads.
