Chapong vs Netlify

Netlify is a well-known managed platform for static sites and Jamstack apps. Chapong offers a similar git-push workflow with previews and rollbacks, but runs on servers you own and includes a Supabase-compatible backend.

Where they differ

General differences in approach. Netlify changes its products and plans over time, so check its own documentation for current details.

Netlify may suit you better if…

  • You want a fully managed global CDN and don’t want to think about servers
  • Your site relies on Netlify-specific features or configuration
  • You need its ecosystem of plugins and add-ons

Chapong may suit you better if…

  • You want your code, logs and data on a server you control
  • You prefer a flat server price you can predict
  • You want a Postgres, auth and storage backend next to your site without another vendor
  • You run Node apps alongside static sites

Moving a project over

  1. Create a site from the same repository and check the detected build command and output folder.
  2. Chapong does not read netlify.toml: set the build command, output folder and environment variables in the site settings.
  3. Deploy a preview and check redirects and serverless functions you relied on; move server logic into a Node app or Da8a edge functions.
  4. Add your domain, update the DNS record to the target Chapong shows, and HTTPS is issued automatically.
  5. Prefer the terminal? avoca deploy skips a local .netlify/ folder when it uploads.
