Chapong vs Coolify

Coolify is an open-source, self-hostable platform you install on your own servers to run apps, databases and services. Chapong also runs on servers you own, but it is managed for you, with a shared tier to start on.

Where they differ

General differences in approach, as of 2026. Coolify changes its products and plans over time, so check its own documentation for current details.

Coolify may suit you better if…

  • You want fully open-source software you can modify
  • You already have servers and are happy to run updates and backups
  • You want to run many kinds of Docker services, not only websites

Chapong may suit you better if…

  • You want servers you own without running the platform yourself
  • You want to start free on shared hosting, then move up
  • You want a Supabase-compatible backend linked to your site in one click
  • You want an assistant that proposes fixes for you to approve

Moving a project over

  1. Create a site from the same repository; check the detected framework, build command and output folder.
  2. Copy your environment variables into the site’s production, preview or shared scopes.
  3. Deploy a preview and test it before switching any traffic.
  4. Recreate databases as a Da8a backend and move data with standard Postgres tools such as pg_dump and psql.
  5. Add your domain, point DNS at the target Chapong shows, and HTTPS is issued automatically.
